Day 1: Arrival in Guwahati – Drive to Shillong

Upon arrival at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, begin your scenic drive to Shillong, located approximately 100 km (3–3.5 hours) away.

En route, stop at the picturesque Umiam Lake, a vast reservoir surrounded by rolling hills and pine forests, offering excellent photography opportunities. Upon reaching Shillong, check in to your hotel and relax.

In the evening, explore the lively Police Bazaar, known for its local handicrafts, cafés, and vibrant atmosphere. Enjoy a leisurely dinner before retiring for the night.

Day 2: Shillong Sightseeing – Waterfalls & Hilltop Views

After breakfast, set out for a full day of sightseeing in and around Shillong.

Visit Shillong Peak, located approximately 10 km (30 minutes) from the city center, offering panoramic views of the Khasi Hills. Continue to Elephant Falls, situated around 12 km (30 minutes) from Shillong, one of Meghalaya’s most famous waterfalls.

Later, visit Ward’s Lake, located in the heart of the city, and spend time enjoying its peaceful surroundings. The evening is free to explore local markets and cafés at your own pace.

Day 3: Shillong to Cherrapunji – Waterfalls & Limestone Caves

After breakfast, drive approximately 55 km (2 hours) to Cherrapunji, renowned for its dramatic landscapes, mist-covered valleys, and abundant rainfall.

Upon arrival, visit the spectacular Nohkalikai Falls, located around 7 km (15 minutes) from the town center and famous as India’s tallest plunge waterfall. Later, explore the fascinating Mawsmai Cave, situated approximately 5 km (10 minutes) away, known for its naturally formed limestone passages and unique rock formations.

Spend the remainder of the day enjoying Cherrapunji’s breathtaking viewpoints and cool mountain atmosphere.

Day 4: Double Decker Living Root Bridge Trek

After an early breakfast, proceed to Tyrna Village, located approximately 20 km (45 minutes) from Cherrapunji, the starting point for the famous Double Decker Living Root Bridge trek.

The trek covers approximately 3 km one way (2–3 hours each way) through dense forests, suspension bridges, streams, and scenic valleys. Upon reaching the bridge, spend time admiring this remarkable living structure created by intertwining tree roots over generations.

After enjoying the serene natural surroundings, trek back to Tyrna and return to your hotel in Cherrapunji.

Day 5: Cherrapunji – Mawlynnong – Dawki – Shillong

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and drive to Mawlynnong, located approximately 80 km (2.5–3 hours) from Cherrapunji. Known for its cleanliness, natural beauty, and community-based tourism, the village offers charming pathways, bamboo skywalks, and a glimpse into traditional Khasi culture.

Later, proceed to Dawki, approximately 35 km (1 hour) away, famous for the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River. Enjoy a peaceful boat ride and admire the stunning scenery, where boats often appear to float on air due to the river's remarkable clarity.

In the evening, continue your journey to Shillong, covering approximately 80 km (2.5–3 hours) through scenic hill roads. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and relax.

Day 6: Shillong to Guwahati – Departure

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and proceed to Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, covering approximately 100 km (3–3.5 hours).

Enjoy the final views of Meghalaya's rolling hills and pine forests as you conclude your memorable journey through one of Northeast India's most scenic destinations.
